2017 Tapia Conference

René Bostic is the Technical Vice President of the IBM Cloud Unit in North America. Enjoying her career with IBM during the modern millennial technological era, she provides strategic leadership and direction to approximately 500 technical professionals across North America to include Federal and Canada. She demonstrates expertise in cloud computing, DevOps and emerging technologies such as Blockchain with C-level decision makers and at business conferences. Her strengths and core competencies include a proven record of accomplishments in consensus building at all levels to assess, plan, and implement enterprise cloud computing solutions.

She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and a member of the Society of Information Management (SIM) Atlanta Chapter. Her speaking engagements include the topics of Cloud Strategy, Cloud Emerging Technologies and Blockchain. René presented at both the 2015 and 2016 IT Roadmap Conferences sponsored by IDG Enterprises, the 2016 Gartner Enterprise Architecture Summit sponsored by Gartner, and eight (8) Cloud Innovation Tour 2016 events sponsored by IBM (Arlington/Federal Government, New York, Canada, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Arkansas, and San Francisco). In 2017, she presented the Blockchain topic at two Society of Women Engineers Conferences. Cloud Expo named René a Cloud Expo 2017 New York Faculty Member for the June 2017 conference. She is scheduled to present at additional conferences this year to include the 2017 CPAs in Business and Industry Conference.

During her executive career, René gained a wealth of international experience from directing over 450 Information Technology Specialists and Architects globally in North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle Eastern Asia (MEA), Asia Pacific (AP), Greater China Group (GCG) and Japan. From 2013-2014, she was appointed by the IBM Rational Brand General Manager to co-chair a BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) growth market initiative which resulted in significant business outcomes.

René has received various IBM Golden Circles, IBM 100% Club Awards, and Career Communications Group Leadership Awards. Through her sponsorship, many IBM employees received national awards to include Women-In-Technology and Black Engineer of the Year Awards while others achieved Distinguished Engineer career goals. In the June/July 2017 Issue of Working Mother Magazine, René was featured in the article titled, “How Multicultural Women at the Country’s Top Companies Pay It Forward.”

René received a Business and Economics degree with a minor in Computer Science from St. Andrews Presbyterian University (Laurinburg, North Carolina). The University of Houston (Houston, Texas) awarded her with a Certificate in Strategic Foresight. Also, René is a genealogy enthusiast and resides in metro-Atlanta (Georgia)
