Richard Ladner is Professor Emeritus in Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. After many years of research in theoretical CS, he has turned his attention to accessibility technology research for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and blind people. In addition to research, he is active in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in computing fields. He is the Principal Investigator for the NSF funded AccessComputing and AccessCSforAll. Richard is the recipient of the 2016 SIGACCESS Award for Outstanding Contributions to Computing and Accessibility and the 2015 Richard A. Tapia Achievement Award for Scientific Scholarship, Civic Science, and Diversifying Computing.
